Real Madrid are emerging as favourites to sign Manchester City target Daniele De Rossi.
The Italy international, who has spent his entire senior career at Roma, has seen his future in the capital come under fresh speculation in recent weeks following reports he has fallen out with manager Zdenek Zeman.
The 29-year-old only extended his contract at the Stadio Olimpico in February but several clubs, including City and Real, are expected to try and prise him away when the transfer window re-opens in January.
City manager Roberto Mancini has been desperate to bring the combative midfielder to the Etihad Stadium, but he could be beaten to De Rossi's signature by Real Madrid.
Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho has been a big fan since his time as manager of Inter Milan and according to reports in Italy, he will make De Rossi his primary target ahead of the January transfer window.
