Benfica keen on Arsenal and Tottenham target

Benfica have joined the race for Arsenal and Spurs target Etienne Capoue.

The north London rivals are facing a battle to sign the tough tackling central midfielder, currently impressing for high-flying Toulouse.

Barcelona and Inter Milan are also understood to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who has been instrumental in the side's surge to second in Ligue 1.

And now Benfica have stepped up their interest in Capoue, who is rated at around £17m.

The midfielder's agent Franck Belhassen, however, was coy when asked about interest from the Portuguese side.

He told O Jogo: "I can not talk about the future of the player. Everything depends on Toulouse now."
