Tottenham could raid Ajax once more for their Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld, according to sources in Belgium.
Spurs signed the 23-year-old’s international team-mate Jan Vertonghen earlier this year, and the left-back has enjoyed a strong start to his career at White Hart Lane.
Now Andre Villas-Boas has dispatched scouts to several of Ajax’s Eredivisie and Champions League fixtures this season to keep an eye on Alderweireld, who is also being monitored by AC Milan.
The £7.2million-rated centre-back, who has been capped 20 times by his national side, came through the ranks at Ajax and made his first-team debut in 2009.
Since then he has become an indispensable member of the first team set-up in Amsterdam, playing a key role in his side’s back-to-back title triumphs of 2011 and 2012.
