PSG planning sensational swoop for Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo is a shock target for Paris Saint Germain, according to reports in Italy.

The Portuguese superstar admitted earlier this season that he was 'sad' at Real Madrid, and Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that has convinced the French club they can make an audacious swoop for the former Manchester United man.

PSG have allegedly contacted Real and made it clear that they would be willing to pay around £80.7m (€100m) for the 27-year-old, who has scored 16 goals in 12 games so far this season.

It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo would be tempted to join PSG, but it underlines that the French club are a coming force in world football, having signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi in the summer.

Ronaldo has not won the Champions League with Real, though, and could be tempted to stay with the club as they look to lift the European Cup for the 10th time.

And it may be part of a complex contract negotiation, with Ronaldo thought to be in talks over extending his deal in the Spanish capital.

Manchester City have in the past been linked with a swoop for Ronaldo, but the report suggests that PSG are his principle suitors if he does decide to leave Real.
