Dortmund plan to rival Chelsea for German strike ace

Borussia Dortmund want to scupper Chelsea's long-standing plans to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle.

Chelsea failed with a £20m bid for the Germany international in the summer but are expected to come in for him again.

Leverkusen flat out refused to enter into any negotiations with Chelsea regarding their star player but that has not dissuaded Roberto Di Matteo.

The Italian still wants his man but the emergence of Dortmund in the running has given him cause for concern.

The Bundesliga champions believe they are in a strong position as Schurrle is settled in Germany and is not particularly keen on leaving his homeland yet.

Jurgen Klopp, the Dortmund manager, is a big admirer and will make his move for the 21-year-old forward when the transfer window opens.
