Inter Milan are ready to trump Arsenal in the race to sign Serbian starlet Lazar Markovic.

talkSPORT reported last month that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had been tracking the FK Partizan Belgrade youngster.

A number of other European sides, including Barcelona, Roma and Sevilla, are also thought to be monitoring the 18-year-old, but Inter could now firm up their interest with an offer.

The San Siro side hosted Markovic's Partizan in a Europa League match last month, and the midfielder is believed to have made a favourable impression upon Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni.

Inter travel to Serbia on Thursday for the reverse fixture, and sources in Italy claim the Nerazzurri will use the occasion to sound out Partizan over a possible transfer.
