Mathieu Debuchy has spoken of his disappointment at failing to secure a move to Newcastle - but hopes a deal can be agreed in the future.
The Lille defender, who starred for France at Euro 2012, was on Alan Pardew's wanted list in the summer.
Pardew fought to land Debuchy but could not convince Lille to sell, with the two sides failing to agree a transfer fee for the player.
It is understood that Newcastle still want the 27-year-old and could come in with a bid in January.
And the right-back admits it is a shame he is not at St James' Park already.
"The president [Michel Seydoux] did not want me to go to Newcastle but yes, I was disappointed," Debuchy told L'Equipe. "I hope there will be other opportunities but I'm 200 per cent committed to Lille."
