Atletico Madrid will launch bids for Luis Suarez or Edin Dzeko if Radamel Falcao leaves the club in the summer, according to reports in Spain.
Madrid-based paper AS claim Atletico are intent on holding on to Falcao, but his position could depend on whether they qualify for next season's Champions League.
There are also suggestions the Colombian could leave the La Liga side regardless of their European status if a club agrees to pay his release clause and can convince the player to move.
If Falcao does go, Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Caminero is said to consider Dzeko or Suarez as ideal replacements.
The Manchester City striker has a contract until 2015, while Suarez recently signed an extension to take his own deal with Liverpool up until 2016.
Atletico, however, believe that with Liverpool unlikely to be competing for titles in the near future, they could tempt Suarez to switch from England to Spain.
Dzeko, meanwhile, is thought to be unsettled at the Etihad Stadium due to his continued role as a substitute. The City striker is considered the cheaper option of the two.
