Real Madrid have turned down Everton's bid to sign Russian starlet Denis Cheryshev, according to sources in Spain.
The Merseysiders are believed to have tabled a £4.8m offer for the 21-year-old last week - although it was swiftly rejected by Real.
Cheryshev, who is yet to make his first-team debut, made his senior bow for Russia last week in a 2-2 draw with the USA.
The winger has been a key figure within Real Madrid's B team for the last few seasons but he appears to be on the verge of a senior breakthrough.
Manager Jose Mourinho, who regards Cheryshev as one of the brightest young players at the club, included him in the squad for the first time earlier this week for the Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday night.
And his elevation to the senior set-up at Real appears to have damaged David Moyes' chances of bringing the youngster to Goodison Park.
