Rodgers: Liverpool won’t spend much money in January

Liverpool won’t be splashing the cash in January, according to Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds boss has admitted he needs to bring in new recruits to bolster their squad during the next transfer window.

But Rodgers revealed that the Anfield club don’t have the resources to bring in several signings and may have to make do with the odd new face.

He told talkSPORT: “[The transfer window] is going to be important because we want to improve the group but the reality is, certainly for this season, we’re not going to have a bucket load of money to go out and spend on four or five players, but we’d hope we could make some additions to the group that can help us.

“We’re improving well and just getting in a couple of fresh faces that can help will be good for us and then we’ll assess it again in the summer.

“We’re just trying to build something and unless you’ve that got money and those resources you can’t do it immediately. You’ve just got to build it over time and that’s something, it’s pretty clear, that will be done at Liverpool."
