Arsenal are leading the chase to sign Juventus striker Alessandro Matri, according to sources in Italy.
Matri, 28, played a big part in Juventus' title success last season but he has found first-team football harder to come by this term, having managed just two Serie A starts.
The Italy international started out at AC Milan but failed to make an impact at the San Siro.
He was loaned out to several lower league teams before making his breakthrough at Cagliari, which eventually lead to a move to Juventus.
Despite summer signing Olivier Giroud finding his form, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is still thought to be on the lookout for a new forward, and he could test Juve's resolve with a £7million bid for Matri in January.
