Reading boss Brian Mcdermott has revealed he is looking to add experienced Premier League players to his squad in the forthcoming January transfer window.
The Royals, who were crowned Championship winners last season, have picked up just one win in 15 league games and sit four points adrift of safety.
McDermott has relied heavily on the players who achieved promotion last term, but he feels he needs more players with previous top flight experience to bolster his side's battle against the drop.
He said: "We're just trying to strengthen the squad. For me personally I feel we need players that have played at the level and know the league.
"At this stage if we can get one or two players like that that know the league by heart it's a good thing. Because they can come into the squad and hit the ground running."
Despite this admission, McDermott insists he has no idea about how much he will be allowed to spend next month.
When asked about his transfer budget, he replied: "Not sure. I don't know if we have [any money], or how much it's going to be. We have a couple of targets and then it would depend on finances."
