West Ham United are fighting it out with Catania to sign Danish goalkeeper Jesper Hansen, according to sources in Italy.
Hansen, 27, has spent his entire senior career at Nordsjaelland and featured in all six of their Champions League ties this season.
Despite signing professional terms in 2003 he had to wait five years to make his first-team debut.
West Ham have sent scouts to keep an eye on him this season and they could make a move in January following Nordsjaelland's elimination from the Champions League.
But they will have to beat off competition from Catania, who are also interested in the goalkeeper.
