Chelsea are set to rival Arsenal for Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa after Stamford Bridge scouts were sent to monitor the defender last weekend.
Yanga-Mbiwa was in action on Saturday as he helped his side keep a clean sheet during their 3-0 defeat of Ajaccio.
Sources in France claim scouts from Chelsea were in attendance at the Stade de la Mosson, with the 23-year-old the reason behind their visit.
The France international signed a new deal at Montpellier last month but that has not stopped interest from across Europe, with Arsenal and AC Milan long-term admirers of the right-back.
