Manchester City have entered the running to sign Spanish star Pedro Obiang.
The 20-year-old is rated one of the best young talents in Europe and has been earning rave reviews for Sampdoria in Serie B.
The talented midfielder, who is also known as Perico, has already been compared to Yaya Toure and Patrick Vieira and has attracted strong interest from Chelsea and Tottenham as well as a number of clubs in Italy including Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma.
Chelsea's new interim coach Rafael Benitez is believed to be a big admirer of Obiang and could make a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
But Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has been monitoring his progress and has even travelled to Italy to watch him in action.
City look the strong favourites to clinch his signature as they would be willing to offer around £15m which Sampdoria are looking for.
