Chelsea face competition to land Steaua star

Roma could steal a march on Chelsea and AC Milan in the chase to sign Romania international Vlad Chiriches.

The 23-year-old has attracted attention from clubs in England and Italy since establishing himself at Steaua Bucharest.

Earlier this month the player's agent denied reports Milan had already made an offer for the player, but sources in Italy claim the San Siro side have now sounded out Steaua over a possible loan move.

However, Steaua are not keen on a loan deal.

This has alerted Roma, who are thought to be considering a £5.7m offer ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.
