Manchester City target Pedro Obiang will not be leaving Sampdoria in January, according to the club's sporting director.
The champions, as well as Tottenham and Chelsea, have watched the 20-year-old, after a number of impressive performances in Serie A.
Last week the player's agent Jose Miguel Gonzalez admitted that several European clubs were interested in the midfielder but he was focused solely on his current club.
And Sampdoria director Pasquale Sensibile has confirmed that City - or any other Premier League side - will struggle to land the prospect.
He said: "Unless we get an offer he will remain indispensable in Sampdoria. The boy is maturing this season and should grow with us. This is not the time for his departure."
