Sampdoria insist Man City target going nowhere

Sampdoria have told Manchester City to give up their pursuit of Pedro Obiang - and have warned them they will face competition from Napoli and Juventus when the Serie A side finally decide to cash in.

Obiang, 20, has been linked with a move to City and Roberto Mancini has watched him extensively in the pass.

But Sampdoria do not want to sell the midfielder just yet - although they do admit to mounting interest in him.

New sporting director Carlo Osti said: "A lot of Italian clubs like him.

"However, I don't think that he could leave us next month. What will we do on the market? We've taken the decision to just take a break from the window until January 7. We'll then think about our moves."
