West Ham are set to make a decision in the next week if they are to make a permanent move for Seattle Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso.
Alonso has been training with the east London club as he looks to gain a permanent move into the Premier League.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is keen to strengthen his squad in January and find a replacement for Mohamed Diame who is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Alonso is a tough tackling midfielder and would be a timely addition to the Hammers squad as Sam Allardyce is missing several key players through injury.
The 27-year-old is believed to have impressed the West Ham manager and a decision over his long-term future will be decided when the transfer window opens next week.
