The owner of FC Metalist, Sergi Kurchenko, has confirmed Chelsea are now firmly out of the running for Taison, with Shakhtar Donetsk in discussions over transfer.
Chelsea wanted to sign the Brazilian forward this month and were ready to spend around £15m to clinch the deal.
But negotiations between the west Londoners and Metalist broke down, with Taison's career left in limbo.
The 24-year-old attacker is keen on a move and Shakhtar have come forward - but Kurchenko will demand close to £30m for their star man.
Metalist and Shakhtar have held talks in recent days and Kurchenko confirmed: "Given the desire of (Shakhtar president) Mr. Akhmetov to see this player in their shirt, I do not exclude that in the near future, we will receive another offer and we will have to say goodbye to this great striker.
"If that happens, I am ready to make the amount received from the transfer bigger, raising it to £30m, and for this money to buy two or three players to make the team stronger."
