Torino say they will have to hold showdown talks with Manchester United target Angelo Ogbonna in the summer in a desperate attempt to keep him at the club.
The 24-year-old defender has come through the Serie A club’s youth academy and has been strongly linked with United.
While Sir Alex Ferguson sees Phil Jones and Chris Smalling as the club's future at the back, he is planning on spending in the summer.
Rio Ferdinand, 34, is set for a one-year extension but Ferguson is preparing for the future.
Nemanja Vidic, 31, has endured a troubled time since damaging cruciate knee ligaments in 2011 and Ogbonna is seen as a viable replacement.
And the Torino chairman Urbano Cairo admits interest is mounting in Italian, 24.
"A lot of clubs are still very interested in Ogbonna," Cairo told Tuttosport.
"In June we'll sit down and evaluate together what to do next. Maybe he'll have a desire to stay here for a bit longer."
