Pepe Reina has given Liverpool a boost by insisting he is not the man to replace Victor Valdes at Barcelona.

Premier League clubs are on high alert after Valdes revealed he would not sign a new deal, with his current contract up in 2014.

Barcelona will step up their search for a replacement in the summer and Reina, along with Manchester United's David De Gea, are wanted.

But Reina insists he is committed to Liverpool and will honour his contract at Anfield.

"Barcelona are the best club in the world. I was formed there both as a player and as a person," he said in an interview with Movistar.

"It's a surprise Valdes wants to leave. Rumours about me replacing him? I've a contract at Liverpool until 2016 and I want to fulfil it."
