Italian side Fiorentina are plotting an audacious bid for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres according to Italian newspaper La Nazione.
The Spaniard, who joined the Blues in a record-breaking £50m deal in January 2011, has failed to replicate the goal-scoring form of his Liverpool days at Stamford Bridge.
And the recent signing of Demba Ba, coupled with strong interest in Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani, has placed question marks over the 28-year-old's long-term future in west London and Fiorentina could offer him an escape route.
Technical director Eduardo Macia, who helped bring Torres to Liverpool during his time on Merseyside, and sporting director Daniele Prade are confident of attracting him to Florence despite his wage demands.
They are thought to be planning to offer a deal similar to the one that brought Alberto Aquilani to the club from Liverpool, with the Reds still paying a share of the Italian's wages.
