Man United target Lille star as Evra's replacement

    Lille left-back Lucas Digne

Manchester United are monitoring Lille youngster Lucas Digne ahead of a potential summer move.

United's interest in the 19-year-old was first reported earlier this season, but French sources claim the English league leaders scouted him during France Under-20s' 2-0 win against Portugal in Creteil earlier this month.

The highly rated left-back scored his side's opening goal during that match.

He has been a key player for his club side this season, starting 18 of their 24 league games, and United are keen on him.

Current Old Trafford left-back Patrice Evra turns 32 this year, while Dutchman Alexander Buttner is not considered a long-term successor to the Frenchman.

Lille, however, managed to boost Digne's value in December by tying him down to a contract which expires in 2017 - meaning United may have to spend big to land him.
