Zidane checks on Spurs star as Real Madrid line up move

Real Madrid director of football Zinedine Zidane kept an eye on Gareth Bale during Spurs' 1-1 draw with Lyon on Thursday night.

Widespread reports across the continent claim the Spanish champions have made the Welshman their number one summer target.

The 2011 PFA Player of the Year has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 17 times in all competitions, and has previously hinted he would be willing to try his luck abroad.

And speculation that he could be on his way to Madrid at the end of the season has intensified after Zidane, the former France international, was spotted at Lyon's Stade Gerland ground.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the World Cup-winning playmaker also held informal discussions with Spurs officials.
