Arsenal face fight to land Athletic Bilbao defender

Arsenal target Fernando Amorebieta is on Juventus' radar, with a summer transfer tug-of-war a real possibility.

Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of the Athletic Bilbao defender and was keen on him in January.

No move materialised but the Arsenal manager is expected to renew his attempt to sign him when the transfer window re-opens.

The 27-year-old has been at Bilbao since 2005 and is said to be ready for a new challenge.

Bilbao have endured a miserable season in La Liga - they currently lie 16th - and will lose star striker Fernando Llorente to Juventus in the summer.

And now the Italian champions are ready for another Basque raid, with Amorebieta a target.

His contract at Bilbao runs until 2014.
