Tottenham line up deal for rookie Italian keeper

Tottenham are lining up a summer bid for Italian goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, according to reports in Italy.

Andre Villas-Boas has options at his disposal with Hugo Lloris in fine form after replacing Brad Friedel as his first-choice keeper earlier this season.

But with Friedel turning 42 in May it would be no surprise if Tottenham were looking to sign a younger alternative as back-up for Lloris.

And Silvestri, the Chievo goalkeeper, has seemingly caught their eye. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Padova in Serie B and is thought to be one of the most exciting young talents in Italy.

And Calciomercato report that Tottenham are ready to open discussions with Silvestri's representatives to see if he would welcome a move to White Hart Lane.
