Out-of-favour Manchester United striker Federico Macheda wants to return to Lazio.
Macheda has failed to make the grade at Old Trafford after a promising start to his career at the club.
He scored a memorable last-minute winner against Aston Villa in 2009 on his senior debut and followed that up with a decisive strike against Sunderland a week later as United won the title.
But since then his career has stagnated following a succession of disastrous loan spells.
First, he scored just once in six months for Sampdoria and could not prevent them from being relegated in 2011 before he moved to QPR on loan last season.
He didn't score and got injured, returning to United, but Sir Alex Ferguson had no place for him in his team.
Macheda is now on loan at Stuttgart but says he wants to play for Lazio again - the club he left for United when he was 16.
"I left Lazio when I was very young," Macheda, 21, said. "I'd like to go back there one day."
