Redknapp: 'I will only buy in January if a special player becomes available'

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has reiterated his stance that he will only enter the transfer market if he can add ‘someone special’ to his squad.

Redknapp has admitted he is generally happy with his squad as they prepare to navigate their way through a tricky second-half to the Premier League season.

They sit third in the table and are regarded as favourites to clinch Champions League qualification ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea.

If we can find someone special then I am sure we would look to do something but other than that we won’t bother.— Harry Redknapp

But the Spurs boss insisted if he could unearth a top quality player capable of strengthening their bid to make a dent on the title race then he would not hesitate to snap them up.

“The squad is fine,” Redknapp said. “We’re short at right-back. Corluka is not fit, he has been out for ten weeks and I don’t know when he is going to be fit. Jake Livermore went there today and did a great job for us.

“As I’ve said all along if we bring someone in it will only be someone I feel can improve us rather than bringing a squad player in. We’ve got enough good players here.
