Fulham set to lose out to AC Milan in Lopez chase

Fulham's ambitious plans to sign Maxi Lopez appear doomed to failure as AC Milan close in on him.

Martin Jol was keen to sign Lopez to add some flair to his side and he was confident he could seal a deal.

Catania are open to the prospect of selling the forward and Fulham were in discussions with the Serie A side regarding the Argentine striker.

But Milan have since declared their interest and a delegation of officials have been in talks with Catania.

And it appears the 27-year-old, yet to be capped at senior level for Argentina, is heading to the San Siro.

Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco said: "Maxi Lopez is virtually a Milan player. We have to wait a few days, but he has been satisfied."
