Chelsea consider move for Dutch defender

Chelsea have not given up in their attempts to sign Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel, according to reports in Spain.

Van der Wiel has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and came close to making a move to the west London club last summer.

The move never materialised and Chelsea appeared to be out of the running after Valencia emerged as the strong favourites to sign him last month, according to Spanish newspaper Superdeporte.

But negotiations have yet to reach a firm conclusion and Chelsea are still holding out for a late move for the 23-year-old.

With uncertainty surrounding the future of Jose Bosingwa, who has been linked with a move to PSG, Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas will be keen to sign another right-back.
