Zenit to make £12m move for Man United target Shaqiri

Manchester United target Xherdan Shaqiri is being lined up for a £12m move to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

The Basel midfielder showed Sir Alex Ferguson what he is capable of when the two clubs clashed in the Champions League in December.

The Swiss side won 2-1, resulting in United crashing out of the competition, with the 20-year-old providing a constant threat to United's backline and creating the winning goal.

Galatasaray have been closely following the playmaker and were believed to be preparing a bid, but they will struggle to match Zenit's spending power if the two clubs start a bidding war.

Bayern Munich are also believed to be keen on the left-footed star who has rejected joining any of Europe's top clubs, but he is tipped to move on before the current transfer window closes.
