Atletico Madrid will approach Chelsea about extending goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois' loan for another season.
The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from Genk in July but was immediately sent on loan to Madrid, where he has flourished.
Courtois has established himself as the club's No.1, keeping the highly rated Sergio Asenjo on the bench.
But the Belgium international is set to return to Chelsea this summer and would almost certainly play second fiddle to Petr Cech, 29, who is under contract at the club until 2013 and reportedly already in negotiations about a longer deal.
So Atletico are hoping to persuade the west London club to allow the goalkeeper to remain in Madrid for a further season, where he will continue to gain valuable experience.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the La Liga club are planning to contact Chelsea in "the next few days" about keeping Courtois next year.
It is also reported that the goalkeeper hopes Andre Villas-Boas will allow him to stay in Spain so he can continue playing regular first-team football.
