Manchester United are willing to wait until Sondre Rossbach recovers from an ankle injury before deciding on whether to offer the young goalkeeper a deal.
Rossbach was offered a trial at United in December and impressed the club's youth coaches, who were keen on taking him on a permanent deal.
The 16-year-old was meant to return to United this week so the club could run the rule over him once again and the inclination was that Rossbach would sign for the club.
But the teenager, who has caught the attention of Everton in the past, has damaged his ankle and will be out for six weeks.
Rossbach, who is part of the Norwegian sports club IF Urædd, has undergone an operation and United are ready to wait for him to recover before pursuing a deal.
