Arsenal face a fight with Inter Milan for Rennes midfielder

Arsenal will face a fight with Inter Milan if they follow up their interest in Yann M’Vila.

Arsene Wenger was keen on the Rennes midfielder in the summer but didn’t follow up with a bid when the French side demanded in excess of £20m.

But shortcomings in the Premier League could force the Gunners boss to spend some of the riches the club has accumulated during his frugal reign.

Inter are a club in turmoil in Serie A, down in seventh place and 17 points off league leaders and city rivals AC Milan and could start their rebuilding process with a move for the combative 21-year-old.

M’Vila has played over 100 times for the Ligue 1 side in just three seasons and has broken into the France side.

According to French radio station RMC, Inter have been in contact with Rennes to discuss a move at the end of the season and have been told he will cost around £22m as he is under contract until 2015.
