Man United close in on £15m Atletico star and set sights on Danish stopper

    David De Gea

Manchester United have opened talks over the signing of Atletico Madrid's David De Gea but are also set to seal a move for another goalkeeper - Anders Lindegaard.

talkSPORT revealed back in September how United were keen on luring De Gea to Manchester and it now appears the 20-year-old goalkeeper is on his way to Old Trafford in a £15m deal.

But Sir Alex Ferguson has not stopped there and he has moved to bring another goalkeeper to the club - long-term target Lindegaard.

The 26-year-old has been likened to Peter Schmeichel and Aalesund's chairman Bjarne Haagensen has revealed he is in Manchester to thrash out a deal, which should be announced shortly.

The move for two goalkeepers puts Tomasz Kuszczak's future at United in doubt. The Pole has spoken of his desire to become number one at the club but with De Gea and Lindegaard arriving for a combined fee of around £20m, Kuszczak may have to look elsewhere to get first team opportunities.

Ferguson wants a more experienced campaigner to help De Gea settle at Old Trafford and with Edwin Van Der Sar likely to leave at the end of the summer, the United manager hopes Lindegaard can help the young Spaniard settle.
