Bolton line up Cahill replacement
Bolton have enquired about signing Dynamo Kyiv defender Pape Diakhate - fuelling speculation that Gary Cahill could be set to leave the Reebok Stadium.
Diakhate spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Lyon and a return to the Ukraine this summer looks unlikely.
Lyon and fellow French side Saint Etienne are both keen on agreeing a loan deal for Diakhate, but according to reports in France, Bolton have contacted Dynamo about buying him this summer.
The combative defender could be considered a like-for-like replacement for £15m-rated Cahill, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester City among other top clubs in England.
French newspaper L'Equipe has claimed that Bolton are currently awaiting a price from the Ukrainian Premier League runners-up and they could use the money from selling Cahill to fund any deal for Diakhate.
