Rising star Xherdan Shaqiri could have been available for as little as £5million back in January - but now FC Basel want at least THREE times that amount.

Shaqiri is the name on everyone's lips at the moment, with the youngster's performances at the Under-21 European Championships - and in Switzerland's senior clashes against England - causing quite a stir.

He has been in excellent form in Denmark and Basel have been inundated with enquiries about the 19-year-old.

talkSPORT understands Bayern Munich are the most interested in the Swiss ace but Premier League clubs are also monitoring him, with Aston Villa and Fulham among those rumoured to be keen.

Shaqiri signed his first professional contract with Basel back in 2009 that initially kept him at the club until the end of the current year.

But the contract has since been renegotiated and Shaqiri now has a deal until 2014. The left-footed midfielder's performances, coupled with his contract situation, have put Basle in a strong position when it comes to talking to clubs regarding a transfer and the club say they will hold out for a massive fee should an auction begin.
