Transfer Deadline Day - how it happened
We expected hours of last-ditch deals and some frantic wheeling and dealing. What we got was a day dominated by loan deals and a flurry of missed opportunities with Mark Schwarzer, Shay Given and Carlton Cole all staying put despite anticipated moves.
Asamoah Gyan's £13m move to Sunderland was the day's biggest deal while Robinho swapped Manchester for Milan in the most noteworthy bit of news. The big movers were Stoke who made four signings including Jermaine Pennant and Eidur Gudjohnsen and Birmingham who made three, among them, Alexander Hleb.
Other notable deals included Paul Konchesky finally sealing a move to Liverpool and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s £6m move to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. Read the rest of the day’s important moves below:

Our man The Moose has been on the blower all morning grabbing a few words with the good and the great. Darren Lewis from The Mirror told our intrepid news hound that Emmanuel Adebayor wants regular first team football and interests Tottenham, who are also "going to have a real go" at signing Scott Parker. Mark Schwarzer's protracted transfer to Arsenal could go "right to the wire" but Eidur Gudjohnsen is very likely to be on his way to Stoke.

We need a new striker, Bent would be to expensive and he has already proved he is not good enough at a big club.
