Lille bid to beat Arsenal and Spurs in race for Nepal starlet

    Rohit Chand

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham face competition from French champions Lille for Nepalese teenager Rohit Chand.

The French champions now appear to be in pole position to sign Chand due to tighter restrictions on non-EU players in the UK. The rules are more relaxed on the continent, making a move to France a much easier option.

Scouts from both north London clubs and Lille have been monitoring the 18-year-old’s progress while playing for Indian First Division side Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) SC.

Chand is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Asian football and is keen to make a name for himself in European football.

The Nepalese international has been tipped to play at the highest level by former Spurs skipper Graham Roberts.
