Martin Kaymer insists he won’t be too disappointed if he fails to win the battle to be world number one.
The 25-year-old will top the rankings for the first time if he wins the Andalucia Masters this weekend or finishes joint second with no more than one other player.
But, while Kaymer would love to be No.1 one day, the German admits his main priority right now is topping the European Tour's money list.
"Of course it is one of the goals I want to achieve in my career," he said. "But at the moment I am concentrating on trying to win the Race to Dubai."
If Kaymer doesn’t achieve the finish he needs at Valderrama, then Lee Westwood will take the number one spot from Tiger Woods despite not being in action this weekend.
That is due to the fact the Englishman's ranking-points average over the past two years will go above Woods' on Monday.
Whether Westwood or Kaymer wins the race, it will mean an end to Woods’ five-year reign at the top of the rankings.
