Lee Westwood admits his number one goal for 2011 is to finally win a major.
The 37-year-old will end this season as world number one after his victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the weekend.
The win in South Africa capped a fine year for the Worksop ace, who was a key part of Europe’s triumphant Ryder Cup team in October and secured second-place finishes at both the Masters and Open.
But Westwood admits his career won't be complete unless he can break his major duck - and that is what he intends to do next season.
"It's obviously my number one target now because I've never won one," said Westwood.
"I've come very close over the last couple of years but careers are defined by major championships, so I'd obviously like to win a major championship.
"I try to focus on it, but without trying to put too much pressure on myself."
Westwood admits seeing his name at the top of the rankings has made him feel almost invincible.
"There's no doubt about it, being number one gives you a massive boost of confidence," he added.
"To look at the world rankings and then to turn up at a tournament and know that as far as the world rankings are concerned, there's nobody better there at the tournament. If you play your best, you should certainly contend that week, if not win it."
