British long jumper Chris Tomlinson believes he is on course for Olympic glory next year.
The Middlesbrough-born athlete leapt 8.35 metres at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Paris last week to reclaim the British record from Greg Rutherford.
And the 30-year-old admits his confidence is sky high ahead of next year's games.
“I knew that I was due to break the record and it was just a matter of time,” said Tomlinson, speaking to Goldstein and Cundy.
“I’ve beaten the Olympic champion [Irving Saladino] and I’ve also jumped further than the Olympic champion in the World Leagues. Last year I beat him three times.
“You’ve got to be confident. There are a lot of good athletes out there who have jumped further than me. But it’s about head-to-heads. Hopefully things can go well for me.”
