Sale director of rugby Bryan Redpath has told Danny Cipriani and his Sale team-mates to forget about their international ambitions.
Fly-half Cipriani has returned to the Aviva Premiership from Australia, citing his desire to get back into the England team as one of the reasons for coming back to these shoes.
But Redpath, who won 60 caps for Scotland as a scrum-half, insists he is concerned only with club and not countries.
He told talkSPORT: “I’ve said to all the players I’m not interested in their international aspirations. I’m only interested in them playing for Sale and if they do that they’ll get the rewards.
“Those rewards come from the hard work of playing for your club, not because you’re potentially capable of playing for your country. It’s about doing it in playing, training and leading by example.”
