England rugby legend Jason Robinson is to come out of retirement to play for National League club Fylde in the 2010/11 season.
The 35-year-old retired from playing in 2007 but has been tempted into a remarkable return with the lowly Lancashire club, who finished ninth in National North Two last season.
Robinson will also help the club with community activities off the field and links up with former England head coach Brian Ashton, who has recently been appointed a consultant at Fylde.
Fylde head coach Mark Nelson will also be a familiar face to Robinson, having worked alongside him at Sale as backs coach in the Premiership-winning 2005-06 season.
Nelson said: "I am absolutely delighted we have signed Jason for next season. Given his record in both codes of the game, it's not an exaggeration to say he is the best-ever rugby player.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for our players to play alongside such an experienced and mercurial talent and I expect a number of players will express an interest in joining the club to have a similar opportunity."
