• Exclusive – Flood unsure on England starting spot

Toby Flood admits he is in the dark over whether he's winning the fight to be England’s fly-half in the first autumn international against New Zealand.

Martin Johnson has yet to publicly reveal whether the Leicester star or Jonny Wilkinson, who is expected to overcome a shoulder injury, will wear the No.10 jersey versus the All Blacks.

And Flood insists he has been given no indication by Johnson if he is likely to get the nod to start next Saturday.

    I haven’t got a clue what’s going onToby Flood

“I haven’t got a clue what’s going on - you know more than I do,” said Flood. “I know Jonny’s had a few problems with his shoulder so he’s had a couple of scans this week.

“If that’s the case [that I am selected to play against New Zealand] then obviously I’m looking forward to it.”

Flood admits the autumn internationals will provide a stern test for England and determine whether they can be World Cup contenders.

He added: "Back on back weeks of the best teams in the world is pretty tough, not only on your body but I think psychologically as well beacuise there's no rest bite.

"And obviously we've got Samoa as well who are just a huge bunch of blokes that will batter us up nice and good so we're all looking forward to it - it should be a good one."
